Sadoski's award-winning stage career began as an understudy to Mark Ruffalo, Mark Rosenthal and Mark Rosenthal in an Off-Broadway production of Kenneth L. Lonergan's play This is Our Youth at Second Stage Theatre. It was the first of many productions produced by the company that is based in New York. He has performed in a variety of Off-Broadway and Broadway productions, as performing in regional theatres. In 2008, he performed the role of Greg in Neil LaBute's production of reasons to be attractive for MCC Theatre alongside The Newsroom co-star Alison Pill. After a sold-out Off-Broadway run the play was moved to Broadway in April 2009. It received three Tony Award nominations, including Best actor and Best actress: Marin Ireland, and three Drama Desk Award nominations for Best Actor and Best Director: Terry Kinney. 6 Neil LaBute credits Sadoski for inspiring the critically noted shift in tone of the reasons to be attractive from the playwright's previous works by saying: "His own thoughtfulness and positive attitude helped me not rely on the things I've done before. My plays always finish in a dark space. He helped me to see other shades in the palette. I thought that was also true in real life. He played the character of Trip Wyeth, Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. For this role, he won an Obie Award as well as the Lucille Lortel Award. After a sell-out Off-Broadway show in November 2011 The play was then moved to Broadway and was named the award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Performance by the Outer Critics Circle. Sadoski, Ben Stiller, Edie Failco Jennifer Jason Leigh, Alison Pill, and Alison Pill were also seen on Broadway in John Guare's House of Blue Leaves.
